Relay Games

Egg and Spoon Relay

Equipment

One spoon and one small ball or plastic egg per team, cones

How to play

Divide the class into equal teams lined up behind a start line. Place a cone approximately 15 metres in front of each team. The first player in each team holds a spoon with a small ball or plastic egg balanced on it. On the signal, the first player walks or runs to the cone and back, keeping the object on the spoon without using their other hand. They then pass the spoon carefully to the next player who repeats the process. If the object falls, the player must stop, pick it up, replace it on the spoon, and continue from where they dropped it. The first team to have all players complete the relay wins.

Variations

Use a real hard-boiled egg outdoors for an authentic challenge. Allow players to use both hands on the return leg to speed up the game.
