General PE Games

Prisoner's Ball

Equipment

Two to four soft foam balls, cones to mark the court boundary and prison areas

How to play

Divide players into two equal teams on opposite sides of a centre line. A prison zone is marked at the back of each team's side. Players throw balls to hit opponents below the shoulder on the full. A hit player moves to the prison zone at the back of their opponent's side. Prisoners can still throw balls from behind the opponent's team but must stay in the prison zone. A prisoner is freed if they catch a ball thrown by their own team over the opponent's heads into the prison. The team that eliminates all active players on the court wins.

Variations

Allow prisoners to be freed by throwing the ball out from prison and having it caught by a teammate. Use more balls for a faster-paced game.
