Danish Longball
One soft ball or tennis ball, two base markers, cones
How to play
Divide players into two teams. Set up a batting base and a safe zone base about 20 metres apart. The batting team lines up and each batter throws the ball into the playing area as far as possible, then runs to the safe zone and tries to return to the batting base without being hit. Fielders attempt to retrieve the ball and throw it to hit the runner below the shoulder before they reach safety. Runners may stay at the safe zone until they feel safe to run back. A point is scored each time a runner safely returns to the batting base. When all batters are out or tagged, teams swap roles.
Variations
Allow batters to kick the ball instead of throwing it. Permit multiple runners to be on the safe base at once.
